Vakula Connect, Q2 2022: IVDR goes live; GxP cloud adoption accelerates

Vakula Connect is our regular update for consultants deciding where to take their next assignment and for clients planning their next programme. This edition covers Q2 2022.

Market signals

  • The EU IVDR applied from 26 May, and diagnostics manufacturers with European sales began technical documentation and QMS work that will run for years.
  • AWS and Azure adoption in regulated companies moved from pilots to production systems, creating demand for architects who understand qualification and data integrity as well as cloud design.
  • Regulatory affairs writers with eCTD experience were in short supply as submission volumes recovered.

Roles in demand this quarter

Titles that recurred in client requisitions: Regulatory Affairs Specialist (IVD), Quality Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, Regulatory Writer. Current openings are always on our careers page.

Signal to leaders

The disciplines that were hardest to fill were the ones where clients needed judgement as well as capacity; briefing for the judgement shortened time-to-fill.

At Vakula

We extended the pharma practice to cover IVD and medical device regulatory and quality roles, and began supporting cloud engineering engagements where the client needed validation-aware engineers.
