Vakula Connect, Q1 2022: Trials restart and the validation crunch

Our Q1 2022 update for consultants and clients: market signals, the roles in demand, and what was new at Vakula Technologies Inc.

Vakula Connect, Q1 2022: Trials restart and the validation crunch

Vakula Connect is our regular update for consultants deciding where to take their next assignment and for clients planning their next programme. This edition covers Q1 2022.

Market signals

  • Sponsors restarting paused studies competed for the same pool of experienced CRAs and study managers; time-to-fill for clinical operations roles stretched across the industry.
  • Computer system validation demand rose as companies replaced paper and legacy systems adopted during the pandemic with validated cloud platforms.
  • Remote and hybrid working became a standing expectation in IT and data roles, widening the candidate pool for clients willing to hire outside New Jersey and the Northeast.

Roles in demand this quarter

Titles that recurred in client requisitions: Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Trial Associate, CSV Engineer, Data Engineer. Current openings are always on our careers page.

Signal to leaders

The disciplines that were hardest to fill were the ones where clients needed judgement as well as capacity; briefing for the judgement shortened time-to-fill.

At Vakula

Our first full quarter. The focus was building the consultant network in computer system validation and clinical operations, the two disciplines where clients were shortest of people, and setting the engagement commitments we still work to: terms agreed before interview, feedback after every submission, no fees to candidates.

For consultants

Rate, duration, location and client are disclosed before you decide to interview; you get feedback after every submission; there are no fees to candidates at any stage. Send your resume.

For clients

Send one requisition and judge the shortlist. Start here.
